榴岡公園
榴岡公園は、仙台藩四代藩主綱村が京都から取り寄せたシダレザクラなど1000本あまりをこの地に植えたのが始まりと言われています。平成元年に日本の都市公園100選に選ばれています。桜の名所として広く知られ、桜の季節になると花見を楽しむ多くの行楽客で賑わいを見せます。敷地内にはレトロな建物の仙台市歴史民族資料館があります。
公園内には芝生の広場、遊具、噴水があります。
About 300 years ago, the feudal lord Date Tsunamura, the fourth generation samurai leader of the Date family, planted some 1000 sakura cherry blossom trees such as Shidarezakura (weeping cherry tree), which were brought from Kyoto. This lore is said to the beginning of the park.
It was selected as one of Japan's top 100 city parks in 1989. It is widely known as a famous spot for cherry blossom viewing, and during the cherry blossom season, it is crowded with many vacationers enjoying cherry blossom viewing. On the premises is the Sendai City History and Folklore Museum, a retro building.
The park has a grassy field, playground equipment, and a fountain.
