金剛宝山 輪王寺
こんごうほうざん りんのうじ
Rinnoji Temple
仙台駅から車で約15分、北仙台駅から徒歩約15分。
1441年に伊達家十一代持宗が創建した大変歴史ある寺。現在の本堂は1915年に再建された。本堂 裏手にある池泉式回遊庭園は東北有数の名園で、四季折々の景観が楽しめる。仁王門は仙台市指定文化財となっている。
駐車場あり。
In the past, this temple was moved to various locations by the Date clan as they changed their place of residence, before it finally settled in its current location when Lord Masamune moved to and started building the city of Sendai. The chashitsu (tea room) house stands serenely in a peaceful stroll garden, and you can see the three story pagoda reflecting itself on the lake. The Nioh-mon gate is designated as one of the City's important cultural artefacts.
