Sendai / Matsushima Area

Sendai is known nationwide as a modern city with a beautiful landscape which is harmonious with nature. Matsushima, which is ranked one of Japan’s three most scenic sites, is famous for its view with about 260 pine clad islets and historical Zen temples. There are also hot spring towns such as Akiu and Sakunami in the mountains, only a 30 minute drive from downtown Sendai.

In spring there are thousands of lovely cherry blossoms along the Shiroishi River. In summer, the stream of Abukuma River surrounded by fresh dense green is truly beautiful. In autumn, leaves on Mt.Zao turn to bright yellow and red. In winter, Ice sculptures called Juhyo form on tree branches when moisture freezes and snow falls on the trees. This beautiful scenery and the historical castle town of Shiroishi harmonize well every season.

Northern Miyagi Area

Ohsaki Plain centering in Funagata is a good place for rice production. Lake Izunuma-Uchinuma is famous for excellent winter migratory bird spots.

Mt.Kurikoma is rich in nature such as alpine plants. There are 9 kinds of fountainhead springs in Naruko Spa. Everything in this area is grand and nostalgic.

Miyagi seasides have various shapes such as rocky coves, sand beaches, and cliff coasts. The deeply-indented coastline is a good fishery and blessed with an abundance of seafood. The scenery here is excellent and the seafood is first class.
